What it does

Wi-Fi calling sends the call over your internet when the carrier supports it and the phone setting is on. It helps a back room with no bars and a strong router. It does nothing in a room where Wi-Fi is also weak.

Test in the room you care about, on a call, not with a speed-test screenshot from the hallway.

Router coverage for calls — A dead Wi-Fi room cannot rescue a call.

The network

A mesh node that fixes a bedroom also fixes Wi-Fi calling in that bedroom. An extender with a second network name may drop the call as you walk. One network name is the kinder setup.

If the internet itself drops, Wi-Fi calling drops with it. Cellular may be the backup. Leave both available rather than forcing airplane tricks you saw online.

Wi-Fi calling and weak rooms — The carrier has to allow the feature.

Scope

We can turn the setting on during a phone visit and place a test call. We cannot make a carrier enable a feature they do not offer on your plan.

Porch and yard calls are often still cellular. Say if the failed calls are outside so we do not only tune the kitchen.
