Apartment Wi-Fi when the modem cannot move

If the jack is in a closet, the node starts outside the closet door.
The constraint
Many apartments put the only jack in a coat closet or behind the television on an exterior wall. You may not be allowed to pull a new line. You can still run a short Ethernet patch from the modem to a router that sits just outside the closet, if a cord can exit without pinching the door.
If a cord cannot exit, a mesh node powered just outside, paired to a router that must stay in, is the next honest step. The node will not be magical. It will be better than Wi-Fi born inside a metal-adjacent closet.
Neighbors
Apartment buildings are crowded on 2.4 GHz. A 5 GHz or 6 GHz link inside your unit helps phones in the same room. The far bedroom may still need the node. Changing the Wi-Fi name does not beat a neighbor's microwave.
Guest policies in some buildings block routers. Ask before a visit so we do not install gear the building will make you remove.
What we will not do
We do not drill a building riser or splice the provider's cable. If the modem itself is offline, that is the provider.
Extend-Wi-Fi in an apartment is a short visit if the floor plan is one rectangle. Say the approximate size when you book.
