Bookshelf speakers: where they belong

Ear height at the seat, not the ceiling, and wire you can trace.
Height and aim
Bookshelf speakers aimed at ears, from the left and right of the screen, beat speakers tucked on the floor beside a plant. Mounting them is worth it when stands are in the walkway.
Rear speakers in a surround visit sit to the sides or slightly behind, not in a ceiling corner unless the speaker was made for that. Surround setup includes the level check.
Wire
We dress wire along trim when we can. We do not open walls for a speaker line as part of a standard mount. If a wire must cross a doorway, we say so before we leave a trip hazard.
Label both ends. Next year's receiver swap depends on it.
Outdoors
Outdoor speakers need hardware and speakers rated for weather. An indoor bookshelf box under an eave still fails. Tell us the spot is outside when you book.
Power and weatherproof outlets are existing or they are an electrician. We connect to what is there.
