Aim a video doorbell at the walkway

A wedge is a small piece of plastic that decides whether you see faces or sky.
The angle
Doorbells mounted flat on a wall that runs beside the walkway look across the yard and miss the person at the latch. A wedge tips the lens toward the path. The shop wedge is that small part. It is not a camera by itself.
Height matters. Too high, you see hats. Too low, you see packages and not faces. We stand on the walkway and check the live view.
Power and Wi-Fi
Models that need existing doorbell wiring use that wiring. We do not pull a new low-voltage run from the panel. Battery models still need a signal. A porch with no Wi-Fi needs a node closer to the door, or the chime will be the only thing that works.
Video doorbell install includes mount, chime or app, and a motion zone. The zone should be the walkway, not the street, or you will live in alerts.
The visit
Say brick, stucco, or wood when you book. The fasteners differ. Say if a wedge is already in hand or should come from the shop.
We test an alert before we leave. A doorbell that only records when you open the app is not finished.
