Scanning to a laptop on the same network

The scan path is a second setup, not a free side effect of printing.
Print is not scan
A printer can show up for documents and still have no scan button that knows your laptop. Scanning uses a small app or a shared folder. Setup should include one test scan if you say you need it.
The file should land in a folder you can open, not a temp directory named by the installer. We pick that folder with you.
Network rules
Guest Wi-Fi and some router isolation settings block the scan even when printing works, because printing can go out through the cloud and scanning tries to come back to the computer. The main network is the simple fix.
USB scanning works without Wi-Fi and only while that computer is on. That is a fair choice for a single desk.
Scan-to-email inside the printer asks for mailbox settings that many providers no longer allow with the normal password. If the panel rejects the mailbox, scan to the computer instead of fighting the provider.
Email account setup is a separate short visit if the laptop's mail is the actual problem.
