Paper jams that repeat in the same spot

A scrap you cannot see, a tray that is overfilled, or rollers that are done.
Look farther in
The page you pulled out is often not the whole jam. A torn corner stays on a roller. Open the rear door if the printer has one, and the tray, before you send another page.
Overfilling the tray is the other classic. The printer grabs two sheets. Fan the stack, set the guides snug, and try ten pages.
The room
Damp paper and paper that lived in a garage jam more. Keep a small pack in the house. Labels and thick card go in the manual slot if the manual says so, not in the main tray.
A troubleshooting visit walks that path and prints a test. If rollers are glazed and every page fails, we will say the printer is at end of life rather than sell a third hour.
After a jam
Cancel the job that is still in the computer queue. Otherwise it reprints the jam.
If the printer asks to align after you reinstall a cartridge you removed to see the path, let it. Skipping alignment looks like a new jam.
