Browser stutter or a tired computer: how to tell
· 4 min read · EasyTechdesk
One slow site is a browser problem. Every app freezing is the machine.

A single site
If mail in the browser is slow and a document app is fine, start with the browser. Too many extensions, a full cache, or a stuck tab can make one site unusable. Try a private window. If the site is fast there, an extension is the suspect.
Video that stutters only in the browser, while a downloaded file plays smoothly, points at the network or the site, not the disk.

The whole computer
If the cursor lags in every app, the fan is loud at idle, or the machine freezes until you hold the power button, that is a computer problem. Note whether it happens on battery only. Some laptops throttle hard when they are hot or unplugged.
A repair visit checks hardware, startup, storage, and software conflicts, then fixes what can be fixed on site. Parts are a separate conversation.
What to write down
The useful note is specific: Chrome freezes on video calls, or the whole laptop locks after sleep. A note that only says slow sends the visit down the longer path.
Online computer support is enough for browser and settings issues. In-home help is better when you want the fan, the heat, and the ports looked at together.
